Dahi Baray


Dahi baras are one of the famous street dishes of Pakistan. We often buy it from market shops but guess what now you can make Dahi Baras at home with this simple recipe.

Ingrediants

White lentils (soaked) 
1 cup
Yellow lentils (soaked)  
1 cup
Yogurt (whipped) 
1 kg + 2 tbsp
Onion (chopped) 
1
Garlic   
4 cloves
Almonds (chopped) 
10
Fresh milk 
250ml
Baking soda
1 tsp
Corn flour (made paste with water)  
1 tbsp
Sugar
1 tsp
Oil  
For frying
Salt 
To taste
Chaat masala, finely cut almonds, sweet and sour tamarind chutney
For garnishing

Method

  1. Strain both lentils.
  2. Grind lentils finely with onion and garlic in a chopper; remove in a bowl.
  3. Add baking soda, salt and almonds; whip well.
  4. Mix sugar, salt, corn flour and milk in yogurt; pour half yogurt in bowl.
  5. Mix 2 tbsp yogurt and water in a large bowl; set aside.
  6. Heat oil in wok; fry flat lentil dumplings golden.
  7. Immerse in yogurt water for 2 minutes; remove and squeeze lightly.
  8. Arrange in yogurt bowl; pour remaining yogurt on top.
  9. Garnish with almonds, chaat masala and tamarind chutney.
